Relative relativity

|
Ever heard of Einstein's theory of relativity? That, given that two individuals are moving at a different speed, time elapses differently for each single one of them? Well, maybe there's something similar in regards to places and locations? That, given you are living in one place, no one else can be in the same place??? Yeah, I know of the universal theorem that only one object can be at the same location at any given point in time. I'm talking of something else, where you are kind of expanding "your" room and expect that no one else is actually able (like in "can physically take it over") to take up as well. Think of expanding your place of living, if you will. Cuz that happened to me. I expanded (not myself, duh - I meant my home). Too much, apparently.

It all started when I was getting mail for someone with my last name, but not the correct given name. Strange, I thought, I have a cousin with that name (chances are high that this would actually be the case, since stemming from a laaaarge catholic background, there are so many cousins around (I'm talking 1st-degree cousins!), that it's hard not to find any given name there. Ok, that might be overstating it, but still. My hand AND feet do not suffice to count them all!). Anyways, I faintly remembered that she was going to move here sometime during the next months, so I thought she might've had mail forwarded to my address. No big problem, I'll get it to her. Next thing I know is that a voter's registration letter arrives for her name. For that, you'd have to be officially registered at a certain address. So that's when I was getting a little bit, uhm, let's say, agitated. Getting any kind of mail is one thing, but creeping under the canopy of my address for official purposes was a whole different story. Especially with me not being informed about such things beforehand.
Well, you might have figured this out by now... or not?
What looked like something rather strange and odd at first, turned out to be a hugh coincidence - she moved into the same house as I'm living in!!! And why did I not notice? Well, there was no sign of her name anywhere around. And just so you know - my family name is not the most common one around here, it's relatively rare. So there I was, dumbfounded and flabbergasted, when someone rang the doorbell and there she was! Asking me for her mail and laughing as well about this funny coincidence. So we'll have to have a glass of wine over that when we finally find the time to do so... Still, funny thing.

And how has your relatives' relativity acted out recently?

Oh, and speaking of family - I'll be off now for a weekend full of family-forest-cabin-boardgame-mushroompicking-campfire-bbq-and-babbling decultivation. ;-)
