I had a full, full week following a great and festive weekend with much too little sleep. The sleeplessness continued for a few more days, since my dept. and two other ones were hosting a big congress here. Turned out to be fantastic, although all of us had quite a lot to do and to worry about. Still, everything went very well and participants and hosts were satisfied (the first ones during, the latter ones after the convention). The aftermath: a brain-dead Hanna yesterday, who is still somewhat recovering from the effects of sleep deprivation. Somehow, I remember to have gotten over that much faster a few years ago. But maybe that's a delusion and it took me just as long as now to get rid of such a hangover. Yep, that must be it. I'll just favour that explanation over the other one mentioning age and the like. Yikes!
So with that settled, I'm really looking forward to a sunny weekend with some fun activities. For once, I'll start grooming the balcony from tomorrow on. It has suffered enough, I daresay. And to make it clear for you: nothing relating to the look of our balcony has changed over the last 4 months. So it is about time... Come tomorrow, I'll cycle off to the nearest garden market and purchase a 300-kg-bag of herbs soil, all of which will be spread evenly into our flower boxes. Actually, all but one of these boxes will be herbs boxes and we'll reserve only one for flowers. Gotta combine the useful (herbs) with the beautiful (flowers). For the herbal section, we've so far settled on chive, basil, thyme, rosemary (yes, this one) and cress. If possible, I'd love to add a box of peppermint. Nothing better on a hot summer day than a cool glass of chilled, self-made peppermint tea. I admit, self-made ice tea is a close second. So that's the plan for the morning...
the afternoon will be filled with Melton fun. It's Melton Day again, so I'll meet up for some chatting and WebEx, bbq and fun with the other MFers here in Jena. Let's see, what we'll do. Rumors have it, that we'll be singstar-ing. ;-)
Other than that? Let's see, what activities to savour the gorgeous weather will spring into my mind! (spring - get it???? I know, I'm a spoilsport. ;-) )
Btw, I clicked that liverleaf just 2 weeks ago, but not here in Jena (though I might've spotted one here as well at the time).
Keep springing! ;-)
Hanna
