Enough waiting time for you lurking readers (?), I guess. Last word you heard from me was about the Thuringian lifeguard competition and that it went all swimmingly. In the swimming part, that is.
To put it exactly, it went great during the first half of the competition - we were fast in all of the relays and finished the swimming part of the competition with a comfortable first rank. Enough safety cushion to start into the second half with first aid stations and theory tests. That's what I thought and hoped. However, we were a new team, and some of the other team members had no or only little first aid experience in competitions. Add to that some nervousness on behalf of our group leader and the cushioning points were quickly eradicated. Sadly, we even lost a few points compared to the next team and ended up with second place in total. Which is still great, but disappointing all the same given that we could have made it if there were just less mistakes and missed opportunities to show what we were capable of. So well, no German lifeguard competition for me and the other team members this time around. But who knows what might happen next year? We should definitely keep up the prep regarding the swimming part and put some tweaks onto the team working part. And then? We'll see... ;-)
Ah, hab ich euch lange genug warten lassen? Ich seh' ja nie, ob hier noch jemand mitliest (außer an den Besucherzahlen), aber anscheinend kommt ja doch ab und an jemand vorbei (hallo, Gästebuch?). ;-)
Wie auch immer, wie ihr euch wahrscheinlich denken konntet, ist die Thüringenmeisterschaft im Rettungsschwimmen 2010 mittlerweile Geschichte. Die erste Wettkampfhälfte, das Schwimmen, lief echt super für meine gemischte Mannschaft - da wir in jeder Disziplin die schnellsten unter den Mannschaften waren, konnten wir mit einem ersten Rang und einem guten Punktepolster in die zweite Wettkampfhälfte mit den Erste-Hilfe-Stationen und Theorie-Tests starten. Leider jedoch konnten wir unseren Vorsprung nicht halten und verloren Punkte, weil in unserer neu zusammengestellten Mannschaft auch einige Wettkämpfer mit wenig oder gar keiner Wettkampferfahrung in Erster Hilfe und weil zum anderen leider die Zusammenarbeit untereinander bzw. die Koordination haperte. Daher verloren wir unseren Vorsprung und sogar noch einige Punkte mehr, sodass am Ende nur der zweite Platz für uns heraussprang. Das ist zwar immer noch eine tolle Leistung, aber irgendwie trotzdem enttäuschend, weil wir auf jeden Fall auch den ersten Platz hätten holen können. Nun ja, im nächsten Jahr wird sich da wohl nochmal einiges ändern und vielleicht klappt es dann ja auch wieder mit einer deutschen Meisterschaft? Wir dürfen gespannt sein... ;-)
